Climate Youth JapanはCOP27が開催されているエジプトのシャルム・エル・シェイクにメンバーを派遣して将来世代を代表してメッセージ発信や、日本、海外のユースと共同して声を届けています。本日は現地に滞在しているゆずはさんからのブログを紹介します！

COY17の投稿最終日は、私たちCYJメンバーがこの期間に仲良くなったユースたちを紹介します。
①TWYCC
まずCOY2日目に協働したTaiwan Youth Climate Coalition(TWYCC)のメンバーを紹介します。イベント当日は「キャンパスにおけるサステナビリティ」というテーマで各々の活動を紹介しました。COPの期間中も複数のワークショップで協働する予定です！
かなり歴史が長く、2009年に設立された台湾初のユースの環境NGOです。なんと10年以上COPにメンバー派遣をしています。目玉事業であるCOPでは、特に「ユースのエンパワーメント」に力を注いでいるそうです。台湾国内でも国際的な場でも様々なイベントを開催しており、幅広いネットワークが特徴的です。今回のCOYでのイベントでも、私たちCYJだけでなくフィリピンのユース団体やシンガポールのユース団体を招いたインターナショナルなイベントを作り上げてくれました。
彼らは環境への取り組みを通して、これからの世代により良い影響を与えられることを目指しています。

Established in 2009, Taiwan Youth Climate Coalition (TWYCC) is the first youth environmental NGO in Taiwan. Since 2008, TWYCC has participated in COP for more than 10 years. TWYCC believes it is crucial to involve not only public awareness, but also youth empowerment about any kind of climate issues and any decision made in COPs. While taking action locally, TWYCC loves to share creative ideas with our allies in different countries, making collaborative campaigns either online or physically. Through climate advocacy, TWYCC hopes the passion for the environment can spread out, and finally have a positive influence for the future generations.
COYに参加しての感想もいただきました！
COYの会場のあちこちで行われる様々な国のユースとの交流はなかなか経験できるものではなく、素晴らしい機会になりました。やはり一番忘れられないのは自身で開催したワークショップです。キャンパスでのアクションについて取り上げました。他の国のユース団体がそれぞれの大学で現地の学生を巻き込みながら活動している様子を聞いたり、参加者とのディスカッションの中で、どのような活動をキャンパスで行ったらより効果的になるかについて話す時間はとても記憶に残るものとなりました。

How did you find the experience at COY17?
It's so exciting to meet other youth activists and share experiences and exchange ideas in the COY plenary. The most unforgettable part is definitely the COY workshop TWYCC held on the 2nd day, which focuses on climate actions at campus. It's really inspiring to see how other youths organizations engage local students to take climate actions and how youth participants do brainstorming together to develop effective solutions to climate advocacy.

②Youssof from Egypt
次は2日目に出会ったエジプト出身のYoussofを紹介します。彼は今24歳で大学では海洋科学を専攻しました。子どもの頃から環境問題に関する記事を国内外のもの問わず目にすることが多かったそうで、この分野に興味を持ったそうです。大学での学びを通して、エジプトにおけるプラスチック廃棄についても特に関心を抱くようになりました。最近は彼が今住んでいるアレクサンドリアという町で、ボランティアメンバーとしてプラスチック問題に関する啓発運動やビーチクリーンに参加しています。LCOYエジプトにも今年初めて参加し、その流れで今回のCOYにも参加することを決めたようです。

I am Youssof from Egypt. I'm 24 and my major at university was marine science. Since I was young, I have read many articles related to climate issues happening in Egypt and also abroad, which brought me to study in this area. Through my learning at college, I got interested in plastic issues and now I'm working as a volunteer in my town, Alexandria by raising awareness of local people about plastic impact on the earth and also joining beach cleans. I joined LCOY Egypt this year for the first time and thus I am here now to make my experience bigger and more valuable.
COYに参加してどう感じたのでしょうか？
複数のワークショップに参加して新たな学びを得ることができたことはもちろん、様々なユースとの出会い、例えばNGOを立ち上げたり、スタートアップに挑戦している人の話を聞いて、自分にもまだまだトライできることがあるという刺激をもらえた素晴らしい機会になりました。

How did you find the experience at COY17?
It was a wonderful opportunity for me to participate in multiple workshops and learn new things, as well as to meet various youth, for example, to hear from people who are trying to establish NGOs or startups, they made me notice that there are still things I can try as well.

③Alex from Singapore
COY期間中に何度も話しかけてくれ、最後には私たちの代わりにタクシー代の交渉までしてくれたシンガポール在住のAlexを紹介します。彼はCOYやCOPの常連だそうで、今後行く機会のある人は要チェックです笑
彼は現在タイに本社を置くグローバルスタートアップで仕事をしています。シンガポールの支社で彼自身は働いていて、企業のカーボンオフセットを仲介する仕事をしているようです。二酸化炭素の排出する権利を買いたい企業と、二酸化炭素の排出を減らすエコフレンドリーな取り組みをしている企業を繋ぎ、カーボンニュートラルな社会の実現に向けて日々取り組んでいる人です。

He is currently working for a global startup based in Thailand. He himself works for a branch office in Singapore, where he seems to be brokering carbon offsets for companies. He is working to achieve a carbon neutral society by connecting companies that want to buy the right to emit carbon dioxide with companies that are doing eco-friendly initiatives to reduce their carbon emissions.
そんな彼にとってCOYはどのような場所だったのでしょうか？
COYの期間では多くのサステナビリティに関心がある人や気候変動問題に興味のある人と交流できたことで、新たな機会創出のアイデアが湧いたり、出会った人たちと新たな協働の可能性を見出すことができたように思います。

How did you find the experience at COY17?
During COY, I was able to interact with many people who are interested in sustainability and climate change issues, which gave me ideas for creating new opportunities and finding new possibilities for collaboration with the people I met.

COYには文字通り世界各国から参加者が集っていて、全員が交流にオープンである雰囲気を全身で感じることができました。世界中でユースが動いていることを改めて理解し、各々の場所で似たようなハードルを感じながらも精力的に活動していることを共有しあえた場所でもありました。今回構築できた多様なユースとの関係を、今後のCYJの活動の中で生かし、インターナショナルな学びや感覚を日本のユースにも届けられるようにしたいと強く感じました。出会ったみんなに心から感謝しています。

COY17 had participants from literally all over the world, and I could feel the atmosphere of openness to exchange among all of them with my whole body. It was also a place where we could share with each other that youth are going forward around the world, and that they are working energetically despite similar hurdles in their respective locations. I strongly felt that I would like to utilize the relationships we made with the diverse youth this time in our future CYJ activities and bring international learning and sensibility to the youth in Japan. I am truly grateful to everyone I met in COY17.
